FERRY BOAT TRAIL
This trail is only possible between April and October because of the timetable of one of the ferries. As the name suggests, the cyclist will come across several ferries on this trail around the Alkmaarder and Uitgeester lake.
The spurs of the lake have spread out onto the landscape and to prevent too many detours, all those patches of water must be crossed. Instead of bridges, the landscape managers chose ferries. An old-fashioned yet effective means of transport. There are no less than five on this trail, two of which are in fact self-service winch ferries with which you pull yourself across the water as it were.
